Opera filed a complaint with the European Commission against Microsoft to force it to make changes to Internet Explorer on Windows. Basically they want Microsoft to unbundle IE from windows or provide alternative browsers such as Opera and Firefox, Opera also wants Microsoft to make IE follow fundamental and open web standards.
I love Opera, no really I do, I used to use it as my main browser for a while and now I keep going back and forth using it and Firefox. And I RARELY use IE. And I understand what they mean by unbundling IE from windows, which is an old story, but anyway, and I am all with providing alternative web browsers.

In regard to IE following the open web standards, their argument is basically because IE has limitations and bugs in implementing the web technologies (XHTML, CSS, and DOM), and because IE is the most used browser developers are forced in make changes and tweaks to their websites to appear properly on IE. But what will happen? What do you want ?! You want the European Commission to rule that developers can only specific versions of those web technologies!!
What I see here is an angry/sad Opera because no one is using their browser, now maybe if they have been giving their browser for free from the start, things might have been different.
Here is the video of their CTO`talking about Opera’s antitrust complaint against Microsoft:
Don’t even think of replacing your current Firfox with this, no, just give it time this is still Beta. I downloaded it yesterday and I didn’t want to quickly write any post just saying its out, i wanted to have a look at it first. Make sure its a real Beta. This is a real Beta release. Thank God.
Although you will hear praises all over the net of how great this version is, but still some things don’t change, yes you guessed it, MEMORY usage. Its still not fully dealt with, of-course I already told you before of an add-on for Firefox 3 that helps with this problem, but i was wishing that maybe the issue would be resolved directly by Mozilla. After using this beta for couple of hours Firefox ended up eating 825,636k of my memory (as shown in the pic below) . So the issue is still there. Am not saying that there was no improvements at all, of-course there are several enhancements. (Continue reading after the jump)
Firefox now uses the Gecko rendering engine, which makes things smoother, but not as smooth as we want yet!. In addition of security features that alerts you while visiting insecure websites and allows you to automatically virus scan your downloads with your Anti-Virus scanner (as shown in the pic below).
I am sure tho, the most beloved new feature by web surfers would be the “PLACES” feature, where it makes it easier to find websites you have visited recently or more often or even starred them for later browsing.
Yup! I moved from wordpress.com, and I have my own domain now www.ibrahimo.com, I still need to change some things around, but the main stuff is done.
In the last post I told you that I am bouncing between bluehost and lunarpages, but after researching I went with hostgator, which until now seems the right choice, I had couple of issues early today and their tech support was very good.
I will resume full activity in posting within couple of days…
