I thought, like others, that Bab El 7ara Part 3 or Season 3 like some likes to call it, is the last one and the door will get closed. But those behind the series finds a great opportunity especially that the viewership of the third season did not decline, so now they have decided to produce two new seasons to be aired in 2009 and 2010. What does the director Bassam Al Mulla wants exactly, he wants us to see the grand grand sons of the series characters?
Bab El 7ara is getting more than it deserves, those who used to say that they wont watch the 3rd part because of 3abbas El Noori are actually watching, they want to know what happens to the other characters. If this goes on we could end up seeing Bab El7ara 6 and 7 and 8 and 9 and 10, Until we reach to the current time. How long will they stretch this, I don’t blame them they found the chicken which will lay golden eggs.
Update:I will try my best to show Bab El7ara here.. I had couple of problems the past 5 days, will be blogging soon. MBC changed the Schedule to 11:00pm Dubai time. thats 7:00pm GMT. More to come soon.
Everybody is waiting for Bab El 7ara 3, after two successful seasons in Ramadan 2006 and 2007 MBC saw an opportunity and jumped on it. They quickly struck a deal with the producer and director of the Syrian TV drama series and even before airing the last few episodes they announced Bab El7ara 3, and quickly created promos featuring the two stars of the series. But later everybody started loosing faith in the success of the 3rd season after it was officially announced on AlArabiya channel that one of those two stars "Abbas El Noori" was not going to be in the 3rd season and his character will die on the first minute of the first episode. Fans of the show got mad and bombarded all Arabic forums showing their anger on the decision which is believed to be taken by the director although he says it was the writer’s decision.
By the end of July 2008 new teasers of Bab El 7ara started showing on MBC and by mid August longer promos aired. Those fans who did not believe the news that "Abu Essam" the character of "Abbas Elnoori" got a clear confirmation that his character is dead.
Here are ALL Promo’s that aired on MBC starting from the oldest ad to the latest one:
In the past few months I have been getting requests from Arabs all around the world, some from Egypt some from UAE and many from Europe, in countries such as UK, Germany and even Finland.
All sending in emails asking me to resume my coverage of Qalam Rasas, you see few months ago I used to talk about each episode and provide some videos of the episode too. There was one reason why I stopped doing that, its because I am lazy, who knows me knows this scary fact Anyway, I will try my best to cover each and every episode from now on, that means starting from the episode of the 13th of June 2008.
The reason why I started the coverage is because I felt that Hamdi Qandeel was not given the same interest as other political shows, lets say such as Alqahera Alyaum with Amr Adeeb, I watch all kind of shows, but I see a huge coverage for Alqahera Alyaum, 10 O’clock and those kind of shows.
Forums, Yahoo Groups and many many Facebook Groups cover and discuss and upload videos of those shows, except of Qalam Rasas, although Qalam Rasas is the most daring show of them all, no one, I REPEAT, NO ONE can say on their shows what Hamdi Qandeel says on Qalam Rasas.
It is quite rare to find any website nowadays that do not provide RSS Feeds, but for those still not in the game and you still would like to monitor their pages, well, Page2RSS to the rescue.
It’s simple, provide the URL of the page, get the RSS Feed, subscribe to it using your Feed Reader. From now on you will get updates on whats new in the page you provided.
To make the proccess even easier you can use the Page2RSS bookmarklet, so you can just click it while on a page you would like to monitor.
Although I do not shop much online, but I do bid on some auctions from time to time, and most of websites I use have a feature were you get alerts either by email or SMS when the price or status of the item has changed.
BuyLater is a firefox extension that alerts you by either email or twitter (which could be forwarded to your cell phone) everytime the status or price of your item in amazon has changed, it does so by adding a “Buy This Later” button bellow Amazon’s “Add to Shopping Cart” button. So for example if the item was out of stock you will be emailed when it becomes available, or if the price changes.
When you are viewing an item you already added to your “Watch List” the button will be “You’re Watching This”. Ofcourse the extension is only available for Firefox and Flock, and it works only with Amazon, and you can easily maintain your items watch list online.
I believe that Amazon will eventually add this kind of feature themselves. I wonder why they didn’t until now.
I know that earlier I have said that Buzzword is great and questioned why is Zoho and Google and others are so fixated on using AJAX and so on. I have used nearly all sort of online word processors like Google Docs and Zoho Writer and Buzzword and others, I also was invited to try some private betas of other services. All have their pros and cons, but today I found out that Zoho Writer is the best.
I was helping a friend editing an essay, so there was big number of documents going back and forth, some from MS Office and some from Open Office and so on. On my Toshiba Qosmio G30 NoteBook I have not installed anything of this sort, I was depending on using an online application.
So when I started my browser Zoho Writer was not my first choice, a mistake I will never fall in again sure, anyway so after trying some of those web services, they were either slow or did not have all tools I wanted. So after all that horror and time wasting I “remembered” Zoho Writer, and you just do not know how thankful I am for doing so, Zoho Writer REALLY knows what you need in a word processor.
I was in a hurry so speed was an issue and Zoho was just amazing, fast and full of tools and the saving and exporting to many formats was so simple and hassle free. So If you are looking at doing some serious work USE ZOHO WRITER.
It all started with Twitter, an easy cool new way for social networking and micro blogging. After a while it became the most famous thing , in case you don’t know, and I really really doubt that you do not know, Twitter simply allows users to send updates on themselves, those are called “Tweets” they are text based posts (140 Character long) submitted to Twitter and displayed on the user’s profile pages. What made Twitter so famous in my opinion is the ability to send those text based posts using either the web, Instant Messengers, PDA, Mobile SMS or 3rd party applications such as Twitterrific.
Since then, more and more Twitter clones came out, claiming they can do a better job, some of those clones are Pownce,Jaiku, Cromple, Tumblr. And the latest of them all is MessageDance which is still in private beta. The main difference between MessageDance and Twitter is that on MessageDance you are not limited to a number of characters per post and you can actually add images and videos. Actually Tumblr allows users to post long posts and include images and videos too.
But its not all good news, MessageDance requires you to install a widget on your blog or website to make your friends know what you are posting and to see what they are posting?! What I cant get is why it is a MUST to install the widget. Installing widgets should always be an option not a requirement.
The way I see it, Twitter is still the best, because none of those clones have the portability Twitter has, they simply depend on posting directly on the web, while on Twitter as said earlier users can post using either the web, Instant Messengers, PDA, Mobile SMS or 3rd party applications.
While there are a number of softwares out there that edit PDF’s with different set of features basic or advanced, PDF Hammer is the first PDF editor online that I know of. No need to download anything, and no need to register, simply upload your PDF file(s) and start editing.
PDF Hammer is still in beta, for now you can upload either one or more PDF files and perform basic edits, such as deleting or rearranging pages, also combining multiple PDF files. More features to come soon as promised by the developer, soon you will be able to rotate pages and apply custom watermarks and stamps.
The utility is really useful, but I still believe that it is better if a standalone downloadable desktop client was created for those who want to use large number of PDF files, it is kind of time consuming to upload one file at a time.
Google Docs, Zoho Writer and now Adobe Buzzword. Since the start of the rise of online document editors, I always asked myself, why those websites do not use flash instead of Ajax and I still don’t really get it. I always thought "FLASH" would be better and faster. I know that "Live Documents" will also use the FLASH technology.
Adobe Buzzword although came a bit late to the game, but there are couple or more things that makes it better than the others. Obviously being in FLASH is the first that comes to mind, it really makes it super fast. Buzzword is far more simpler and easy on the eye’s too. It works on any operating system, your computer just needs to have Adobe Flash installed, which is available in most computers by default anyway.

As soon as you finish your registration you are quickly switched to the main page. In the main page you can basically either create a new document, open a saved document in Buzzword or open a document from your harddisk.
The beauty of Buzzword, being in flash, the menus are smooth and fast. And nicely organized, and on your first look you would get the wrong impression that BUZZWORD lacks features and options.
But you will be very mistaken to think so, just click on any of the icons and it will slide revealing various features. The picture below shows some of them.
We shouldn’t forget the pull down menus too, which also hold a number of different kind of options.
The "History" feature keeps track of different changes that you make on a document so you can switch between them easily.
In Buzzword you can also insert Pictures and Comments.
Document sharing, you can make a document private or share it with others in a very simple way, setting a role for the person you are sharing the document with. There are three roles. Co-Author where he can do anything with the document, Reviewer where he can read and comment on the document, and Reader where he is only allowed to read the document.
There are other great features also, such as Zooming, using a slidebar you can zoom the document in and out which automatically resize everything in it. You can also insert special characters, and Offcourse, the automatic word count is useful when you are limited to number of words.
Now that is all great stuff in BUZZWORD, but there are couple of things that I found negative in it, nothing is perfect in this world. Anyway, the first thing that bothered me is the limited number of fonts available, which are only seven fonts.
The second thing is what happens sometimes when you upload a picture, it took me three tries to upload an image, a message keeps coming up stating that "Buzzword could not contact the server to complete our action". I tried doing this using IE, Firefox, FLOCK which is Firefox anyway, and I tried it from my Toshiba G30 Notebook and My Desktop PC. Sometimes the image is uploaded from the first time, but the error window do appear quite often.
In the end I would like to say that Adobe Buzzword is a good, easy and fast Word Processor. Couple of enhancements here and there and it will defiantly become THE web REAL Word Processor.
This is not totaly new news, Facebook Beacon has collected many critics since it started, it is basicly a new Facebook adverising model. Simply if you buy anything anywhere online this info will be shared on your profile news board.
So now MoveOn the online campaign group is taking action, they created a Facebook group called “Facebook, stop invading my privacy“, the group has 9,724 members until writing this post. And MoveOn also started an online petition.
Here what they had to say :
“When you buy a book or movie online, or make a political contribution, do you want that information automatically shared with the world on Facebook?” the group asked.
“Most people would call that a huge invasion of privacy. But recently, Facebook began doing just that. People across the country saw private purchases they made on other sites displayed on their Facebook News Feeds.”
