After Six Years in Guantanamo: Sami al-Hajj is FREE at Last (Video) [UPDATE]
May 2nd, 2008
Sami Al-Hajj who is a cameraman working for Al-Jazeera Channel is freed from Guantanamo after being held there for six years, he was arrested in Afghanistan by mistake, yes he was like many in Guantanamo arrested with no real reason or evidence.
Sami Al-Hajj was imprisoned without charge and no evidence, and he was offered his freedom in exchange of him spying on Al-Jazeera but he refused. He went on hunger strike which lead the authorities to punish him by taking away his reading glasses and his toilet stand. He was injured severely shortly after arrested. Sami Al-Hajj is on his way now to his country Sudan.
Looking forward to hear even better news, something like all those who are in Guantanamo FREED.
Update: Sami Al-Hajj talks about his experience in Guantanamo for Aljazeera.
