Here how it goes, when you visit FREE RICE website you  are a given a word and 4 meanings, you have to choose the right one, every time you answer a right answer “Free Rice” will donate 10 grains of rice on your behalf, so 5 words are 50 grains and so on.

The money comes from the advertisements which are shown on the website, the donations are done through the United Nations, this gives a whole new meaning to learning new vocab, and spreads more awareness of world poverty.
